Rainy weekend=weekend in the kitchens (indoor and outdoor)! Perfect date weekend! Meal prepping and baking! I have tons of sourdough starter and we put it to use this weekend! Making @amyduska English Muffins, @savoringitaly Sourdough Discard Challah (adding in lemon and blueberries! ‘Tis the season!), @dirt.dough Overnight Sourdough Bread, @maurizio Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough Bread, @alexandracooks Sourdough Flour tortillas to go with @brandongouveia Birria all in our #gecaféseries double oven! Outside we made amazing pizzas with @alexandracooks Sourdough Pizza Dough in our @alfaovens.usa ! Perfect! Tonight we will be making @brandongouveia Birria Grilled Cheese on some of our Sourdough Bread! Yum! Cheers to a successful, productive date weekend doing what we love to do together…cooking! Long Beach Market and Deli…oh.my.goodness! Every time we go I wonder why I waited to come back? You can’t miss here, better than excellent food, cold drinks and desserts if you dare! So delicious! They have very friendly service. Walk up to the counter, order your food and not long after you sit down your name is called and food delivered with a smile! Watermelon, coconut mojito and carnitas nachos for lunch? Yes please!! We had lunch at one of our favorite spots today! The Deck in Pass Christian is the place to go for the best mojitos!! They’re OPEN!! Today we went to the opening of The Blind Tiger Butcher Shop & Seafood Market, Depot District Deli and met Thomas and Bobby who shared all of the exciting news about what The Blind Tiger is bringing to the BSL Train Depot! You will be able to come in and eat a great meal and shop for your own kitchen when you leave! Such great options from steak and seafood to pork and burgers! They will also have daily specials!! Oh! And cakes and Pies!! Today we got the shrimp poboy and fries! It was amazing! Loaded with big fresh shrimp on fresh bread and the fries were dusted with the perfect amount of salt and pepper! The service was amazing and it was spotless! …and the beer was cold! 🍻Thank you @theblindtigerbsl ! See you again soon!

Trying something new! I finally made a successful sourdough starter. For some that is an easy task, for me it definitely has proven to be a bit of a challenge. But I did it! Yay! Then the next challenge was a loaf of basic sourdough bread! Guess what?! I did that too! This morning we had an amazing brunch making avocado toast with my sourdough bread! Topped it off with Trader Joe’s Applewood Smoked Bacon and a fresh egg from our cousin’s chickens! Absolutely delicious! Now I am going to start trying some more sourdough recipes! The day of prom all dressed up and ready with all of her friends only for it to be cancelled two hours before. On September 20th we attended @libertyskitchen Come Grow with Us Gala at the beautiful Ace Hotel (@aceneworleans). We witnessed the amazing work they are doing and the difference that they have made in many lives our inner city youth. The group at Liberty's Kitchen work hard to train and motivate the young adults in their program to be able to achieve employment and become leaders within the community. Many chef's including Susan Spicer and many restaurants including @rubyslippercafe and @maypoprestaurant participated in the evening making it very special for all. Liberty's Kitchen also hosts Guest Chef Night once a month at their Broad St. location where some of New Orleans' favorite chef's come into the kitchen in support of the youth program. If you haven't attended a Guest Chef Night you should definitely check it out! The students and mentors are truly inspirational! A Wonderful Escape! From the time we pulled up to the property to the time we walked in, it was total wow factor. What a great place. Our whole group felt right at home. Very private area with very little beach goer's. We were in our own little world. Everything is very well kept and laid out really well. Instruction were on point. We went out looking for sand crabs with success. We also awoke one morning to find a bunch of dolphins out swimming around and putting on a show. Just a great time! Mrs. Murders, thank you for all of your prompt communication and for allowing my family, friends and I to stay in this home. We had an amazing time and will definitely be visiting again in the near future."
